Two days in Cap Leveque

Before our leaving for Darwin, we had planned a two days tour to Cap Leveque, on the top north of the Dampier Peninsula (thanks again Damian !). Roger, our guide picked us up at home at 6.45am (yes, it’s early !). 2 hours of gravel road later, we arrived in the Beagle Bay Aboriginal Community, famous for her Church with a Pearl Shell Altar.

A little tea break, and we are again on the road for 2 more hours of 4 wheels drive. The big Land Cruiser was shaking and Barbara felt a bit sick (fortunately not too sick …). Finally, we arrived in Cap Leveque, and the guide set up the lunch table while we had a swim in a beautiful limpid water.

After the lunch and a little nap on the beach, we joined Robert, a local guide for some sea kayaking followed by some snorkeling. After seeing sting rays, lion fishes, Nemos and turtles, we went back to the camp site to have our dinner and slept under the stars.

We woke up at 6.45am the next morning, and after a good breakfast, we met Eric, another local there to help us to catch fishes for the lunch. Fortunately, Eric was better than us, because we caught nothing !
He finally cooked the four fishes he caught. Yummy !

After that, it was already time to go back home for our last night in Broome and in the Western Australia.
